I am appalled by your continued actions to undermine the equitable staffing of schools and reduce professional teaching qualifications in TAFE.

Your message: (this letter can be changed to suit your individual circumstances)	I am appalled by your continued actions to undermine the equitable staffing of schools and reduce professional teaching qualifications in TAFE. Your email messages to teachers in support of your flawed staffing proposals are misleading and offensive. They show scant regard for the concerns of teachers who have first hand knowledge of the staffing needs of public schools, including those that are difficult to staff. The Department of Education and Training deliberately delayed commencement of negotiations for a new staffing agreement in schools; proposed destructive staffing changes its officers knew would be unacceptable to teachers; spurned attempts at good faith negotiation; and made a farce of established industrial relations practice by offering its imposed conditions as the basis for an agreement with the Teachers Federation. In TAFE, the government pursues an agenda of downgrading teacher education qualifications; increasing TAFE student fees; and proposing a disastrous restructure that targets access and equity areas in particular, under the mantra of doing business in the 21st century. I request that you withdraw your school staffing proposals and work to convince the Government that the changes in TAFE are unacceptable and damaging. I further request that you refrain from further attempts to sell your flawed proposals using the DET email system. I call on you to - negotiate a School Staffing Agreement that guarantees teachers' rights to transfer and students' rights to be taught by qualified teachers in a fair and equitable statewide system; and - withdraw proposals in TAFE that lower teacher qualification standards, increase student fees and undermine services through a restructure.
