Cornerstones

Cornerstones is a conference on public education staged by the Public Education Alliance. The conference will be held on 22-23 September 2006 at The Wesley Centre, 220 Pitt St. Sydney.

Key Speakers

John Ralston Saul

Award-winning essayist and novelist, John Ralston Saul has had a growing impact on political and economic thought in many countries. Declared a “prophet” by TIME magazine, he is included in the prestigious Utne Reader’s list of the world’s 100 leading thinkers and visionaries.

Professor Peter Doherty

Professor Peter Doherty shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1996 with Swiss colleague Rolf Zinkernagel, for their discovery of how the immune system recognises virusinfected cells. He was Australian of the Year in 1997.

Heather-jane Robertson

Heather-jane Robertson is a Canadian educator and activist who has been at the forefront of challenging neoliberal education reforms. She is the author of two books and many, many articles on the politics of education reform.
