Specialised tax information for teachers
The Australian Taxation Offices (ATO) advises you have until October 31 to lodge your tax return, unless it is prepared by a registered tax agent.
If a registered tax agent is lodging your tax return, the ATO advises they may be able to lodge it later. If you didn't use a registered tax agent last year or you're changing to another registered tax agent this year, make sure you see them before October 31. If you cannot lodge your tax return by October 31 due to circumstances beyond your control, phone the ATO on 13 28 61 as soon as possible to find out if you can lodge later.
The ATO has published special information to help teachers complete their tax return. The information can be accessed from the ATO website at

For personal tax inquiries about retirement, family tax benefit, baby bonus, tax file number, pay as you go (PAYG) -- including activity statements, Higher Education Loan Programme (HELP), Student Financial Supplement Scheme, account balance or replacement cheque, preparation of an online tax return, general income tax, lodgement and notices of assessment phone 13 28 61.

The Australian Tax Office's call centre is open 8am to 6pm weekdays, but is closed on public holidays.
