Public education forum at Parramatta
By Jenny Diamond
In what will probably be a final salvo for public education before the federal election, Federation will hold a forum at 4pm on Wednesday October 31 at Parramatta Town Hall.
The event seeks to ensure that public education is firmly in the voting public's mind as a national priority and that the teaching profession has "the last word" on what is best for public education, and what is needed from any future government.
ACTU President Sharan Burrow will be a guest speakers at the forum.
Members are strongly encouraged to attend.
Federation Representatives, Women's Contacts and Association Executive members are authorised to stop work if this is necessary to enable them to attend the forum. Please contact your Organiser if you need advice in this regard.
This is an important opportunity to show the public and the media our commitment and support for public education and to reinforce to the electorate solid support for public education as a national priority.
Jenny Diamond is the Acting Assistant General Secretary (Schools).
