Name change signals enhanced welfare and legal support

By

John Irving

Federation's law firm, MacMahon Associates, has had a name change to Federation Law which signals a new direction for the firm.

The Board of Federation Law is determined to ensure the law firm not only continues as a modern firm supportive of Federation members, but also becomes more integrated into the needs of Federation.

Solicitors from Federation Law and Officers of the Federation will work more closely to enhance support for members.

The Board of Federation Law has been expanded to include two of the firm's solicitors and the Federation's Secretary of the Legal Cases Committee, with the aim to further integrate services between the firm and Federation.

Federation Law will be represented at Beginning Teacher Conferences, regional seminars, other Federation conferences, and generally be more representative in Federation services to members and their families. A Federation Law website is currently being developed while a new phone number, 1300 880 870, has been put in place for easier member access. Generally, teachers will be made more aware of the benefits of Federation membership, including access to our law firm.

Federation welcomes the name change and the deliberate change in direction to enhance welfare and legal support to members and their families.

John Irving is the General Secretary and also the chair of the Federation Law board of directors.
