Teachers Credit Union election
By John Irving
If you are a member of the NSW Teachers Credit Union, exercise your right to vote.
During August, ballot papers will be posted to all members of the NSW Teachers Credit Union. Elections will be held for two positions on the Board of Directors and four positions on the Members Committee.
There are strong historical links between the credit union and Federation. The credit union started in 1966 as the Hornsby Teachers Association Credit Union. It became the NSW Teachers Credit Union a year later.
Despite the credit union having more than 150,000 members, ever fewer of those members exercise their right to vote. I urge you as both a Federation and credit union member to carefully consider the material from the candidates and to then exercise your right to vote for candidates who are committed to the best interests of the credit union and its members as well as also recognising the importance to the credit union of maintaining the strong links between the credit union, teachers and public education.
Two long-time members of the credit union as well as Life Members of the Federation are seeking election in the credit union's elections. Jennifer Leete is seeking re-election to the Board and Helen MacGregor is seeking election to the Members Committee.
John Irving is the General Secretary.
