Support for Joy staff

Seventy workers at Joy Mining Machinery in Moss Vale have been locked out since mid-April by their employer, Hamischfeger Industries, a US multinational.

The workers had been negotiating a new enterprise agreement. Management has threatened to close the factory and has begun moving unfinished jobs off the site. Since the lock-out in mid April, Joy management has refused to negotiate in good faith with their staff.

The communities of the Southern Highlands and South Coast have been determined in their support of the Joy workers' fight against de-unionisation and casualisation.

An attempt is being made to financially support the families affected and various work-sites around Australia are making weekly collections. Donations can be made to the Joy Workers Fighting Fund, Commonwealth Bank of Australia account number 062576 (identification number 10103983).
