Welfare

Check your set of leaflets

Federation Representatives should see if their set of welfare leaflets is up to date, writes CAROL HOWARD.

Over a number of years the Federation Welfare and other Officers have produced leaflets that provide a summary of leave entitlements, and advice in regard to teachers' rights and working conditions. Although the leave leaflets relate to Department of Education and Training employees leaflets TR 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 12 and S 1, 2, 3, are applicable to TAFE as well. After the last major revision of the leaflets in 2000 a number of sets were sent to all schools. Each Federation Representative should have been provided with a set.

Since 2000 some leaflets have been updated. The total list is printed below. If your set is incomplete, copies may be printed from the Members Area of the Federation website.

Welfare Leaflets TR7 and M1 have been deleted to avoid confusion as policies or terminology of the Department of Education and Training has changed.

The website may be accessed by teachers on numerous issues. Currently there is information in regard to period loads, extras, in lieus, sport Meadowbanks and hours of duty.

Carol Howard is a Welfare Officer.
