Dynamic program for Women’s Conference
By Siobhan Callan
A very dynamic and empowering program has been planned for Women's Conference on May 22.
The keynote speaker is Deakin University School of Health and Social Development senior lecturer Dr Maria Pallotta-Chiarolli.
Maria will talk to Federation women about gender and cultural diversity in education, a topic particularly relevant at a time when much discussion is being made around the current debate on "boys education", and issues in relation to gender equity.
The Conference theme for this year is "Women Changing the Political Agenda".
Workshops will be based around political issues of relevance to women teacher unionists, such as public education, gender equity, TAFE funding, human rights, early childhood education, Aboriginal issues and work and family.
The Conference will be held at the Guthrie Theatre, University of Technology, Harris Street, Sydney.
All financial women members of the Federation are welcome to attend.
Federation will fund one female delegate from each country association and five country delegates from TAFE. All Association Secretaries have registration travel and accommodation forms. Please register by May 1.
City delegates can also contact their Association Secretary for details or ring Federation Women's Coordinator Siobhan Callan on (02) 9217 2152 to register by phone.
The Federation Women's Conference is always well attended, very enjoyable and productive day. Whether you have attended for many years, or are coming along for the very first time, we look forward to seeing you on May 22.
Siobhan Callan is the Women's Coordinator.
