Faces of the future teachers

By Kerri Carr

Federation Trainee Teacher Scholarships have been awarded for 2004.

Most of the scholarships were presented at Federation's March Council.

The scholarships are worth $2000 each.

Recipients of scholarships in the trainee teachers from a rural or remote area category were Shae Mackin and Stuart Marshall.

In the trainee teacher in the first year of an undergraduate teachers training course recipients were Elizabeth Archer and Rhiannon Treasure-Brand.

Nicole Howard and William Makin were awarded scholarships in the trainee teacher who identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander category.

Scholarships in the unrestricted category were awarded to Belinda Berrett, Amy Eacott, Tanya Fisher and Andrew Gregg. Amy Eacott and Tanya Fisher were absent from the presentation ceremony but will be presented with their scholarships at their local teachers association meeting.

Katherine Brace was also awarded an unrestricted scholarship, which was kindly funded by the Retired Teachers Association.

The scholarships were established as part of Federation's ongoing support of public education.

Federation is committed to building and supporting the teaching profession in public schools.
