Board staffing ads to be discussed
By Michelle Rosicky
The Office of the Board of Studies has assured Federation it will discuss wording of advertisements in the future after a controversial advertisement called for "recent outstanding experience in non-government schools".
On November 22, Federation officers met with Board of Studies General Manager Dr John Bennett and other Board senior officers to discuss the advertisement for positions of Senior Registration Officer with the requirement of "recent outstanding experience in non-government schools".
Federation pressed its concern about this development in staffing at the Board and indicated that the filling of positions in this way may contravene current government policy direction.
Discussion moved on to the impact of State Budget cuts and the working conditions of education teaching service officers at the Board. Finally, Federation commenced discussions with the Board on the introduction of the new right of return provisions the Federation and the Department of Education and Training has recently signed off on.
