Casual and temporary teachers urged to attend Sky Channel meetings
By Sally Edsall
The Howard Government's proposed industrial relations laws will have devastating effect on the increasing number of casual employees in Australia.
In Australia, the proportion of the workforce which is employed casually continues to increase. Australia has the second highest rate of casualised labour in the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development). This segment of the labour force will be even more vulnerable than ever.
Federation is urging all members to attend the Sky Channel, and has faxed a letter to workplaces urging casual and temporary members to go.
The union has also developed a letter for parents.
