Webservices funds should remain untouched

By Wendy Currie

The webservices program is banned. This includes training and information sessions.

Tied funds for the implementation of webservices have been placed in every school's bank account.

Federation advises schools to leave the funds untouched in the bank.

Discussions between the DET and the Federation about webservices are continuing. Federation has also recently had discussions with the Minister's office about a number of technology issues, including technology support, computer access, information communication technology competencies in syllabuses and the Year 10 Computer Skills Assessment (CSA10). The union as asked that the introduction of the CSA10 as a mandatory part of the 2006 School Certificate be delayed until improvements are made to technology support and computer access.

Wendy Currie is a Research Officer.
