Members overwhelmingly endorse salaries offer

More than 99 per cent of members attending more than 200 Sky Channel venues across metropolitan and country NSW have endorsed the State Government's salaries offer, paving the way for a three year fully funded award with no "trade offs".
Members have accepted the offer which:
- provides first payment from January 1, 2006,
the day after the current award expires
- has been achieved by negotiation
- provides increases for top of the scale teachers of 4.5 per cent from January 1, 2006, 4.5 per cent from January 1, 2007 and four per cent from January 1, 2008 ($75,352)
- provides increases for teachers still on the incremental scale of three per cent from January 1, 2006, three per cent from January 1, 2007 and three per cent from January 1, 2008 (step 5 4YT entry point $50,522)
- provides 14 weeks maternity leave on full pay
- provides one week paternity leave on full pay
- provides access to pro-rata long service leave after seven years
- provides four per cent per annum increases for all allowances
- provides four per cent per annum increases for all promotions positions including the consultancy
- provides for restructuring of assistant principal and PP6 to head teacher salary and deputy principal primary and PP5 to deputy principal high school salary from July 1, 2008
- establishes joint reviews of principal classifications and school counsellor issues
- commits our employer to collective bargaining.
Note: All new rates apply from the beginning of the first pay period to commence on or after the specified dates.
