Curriculum

Views sought on stage 6 maths syllabuses

By Wendy Currie

This year the Board of Studies is conducting a review of the stage 6 mathematics syllabuses.

Federation's representatives on the Board's Curriculum Committee will present an oral submission to the review in late May as well as providing a written submission, due at the end of June.

This is the beginning of the Board's consultation process, which will continue with a survey that can be filled in by schools and/or individual teachers in August and a symposium to be conducted also in August.

Federation's representatives are seeking the views of members to ensure the union's responses are inclusive of your concerns. Such issues may include, for example, the strengths and weaknesses of the current syllabuses, whether you think they cater to all students, or whether you think any changes are necessary.

Please forward your views to the Federation by mail, fax (02) 9217 2470 or email mail@nswtf.org.au, marked clearly to the attention of Research Officer Wendy Currie.

Wendy Currie is a Research Officer.
