Public Education campaign

New corflute banners

There's a new look for the public education campaign, writes DIANE HAGUE.

By now, teachers may have seen Federation's new television advertisement promoting public schools and may have heard some of the radio ads which have been aired in the last month. The next phase of the campaign will occur at Annual Conference in early July where the Federation's public education campaign for the state election in March 2007 will be launched. As part of this campaign and to help build local support for public education, the first of a series of three new corflute banners to be displayed at schools has been designed.

During the July vacation, these banners will be delivered to all schools. The message is simple --"Public Education. Great schools. Great future. Stronger communities".

Federation wants this to be the only banner being displayed at your school. It is time for the old signs to be retired.

To celebrate the campaign and the message, why not invite the local media to a ceremony where the old signs are formally removed from the fence and the new banner is proudly displayed? The banners have a very new look and will certainly stand out at your school.

The second and third part of the series will be delivered next year, firstly in the lead up to the state election and later in the lead up to the federal election.

Separate banners are also being designed and printed for TAFE and will also be delivered in the July vacation. Federation asks that local TAFE teachers also retire the old TAFE signs.

Diane Hague is the Administration Officer (Media and Communications).
