STUC for singers
By Helen Clark
Sydney Trade Union Choir (STUC) is looking for new voices to sing for rights and a fair go for all.
The choir sings at union gatherings (including Federation conferences), anti-war rallies, anti-racism rallies and folk festivals as well as more informal gatherings.
STUC meets every Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm in a central location close to Town Hall Station.
We need tenors, but all voice ranges are most welcome.
Our inspiring and talented director Gerard Patterson helps us to learn the parts and choir members support one another. You don't need to be a Pavarotti (indeed, you don't need to be able to read music) because it's a group effort where blending is what it's all about.
STUC was formed 15 years ago by union members from a variety of backgrounds who had, and still have, one thing in common -- the desire to make a difference -- to stand up, sing out and be counted.
To quote Bertold Brecht: "One cannot rescue any but many can rescue many."
So why not join us! Contact us on (02) 9587 1165 or on stuc_mail@yahoo.com.au.
Helen Clark is a casual teacher.
