Professional Development Day
The Faculty of Education and Social Work, University of Sydney and the NSW Teachers Federation are offering a professional development course in developing classroom management skills .
The Course is titled "Beyond Behaviour Management-Your Classroom as a Learning Community"
This day long highly participatory course deals with classroom management issues and skills around the concepts of classrooms as learning communities, engagement and motivation and taking teacher standards into positive classroom practice. It aims to address the needs and concerns of:
- early career teachers,
- experienced teachers who are involved in mentoring early career teachers, and
- all teachers interested in ongoing professional learning around developing their classroom management skills.
Presenters and workshop facilitators will include experienced mentors, early career teachers and teacher educators. A critical review of relevant literature and research will be introduced to facilitate discussion about concrete issues in specific contexts using case studies.
The course articulates with a post-graduate course unit offered by the Faculty of Education and Social Work, University of Sydney. The Division of Professional Learning is endorsed as a provider of Institute Registered continuing professional development with the NSW Institute of Teachers.
The cost of the professional development day is $50 for Federation members. Participants will be provided with lunch.
