Lyndsay Connors
Lyndsay Connors is one of the many Australians who owe their education to the public education system in this state of NSW. She is a parent of four children, all of whom were educated in public schools.
She recently chaired a review for the Victorian Minister of Education on future directions for the public school system in that state. Prior to this she was Director of Higher Education in the NSW Department of Education and Training.
She served for four years as the Deputy Chair of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation during the 1990s, and during this period she was also Deputy Chair of the Board of the Open Learning Technology Corporation and a member of the Australian Children’s Television Foundation.
She was a full-time member of the Commonwealth Schools Commission during the 1980s, and went on to chair the Schools Council of the National Board of Employment, Education and Training.
Her contribution to public education has been recognised in awards from both the University of Canberra and the University of South Australia. In 1999 she was invited by the Australian Association for Research in Education to deliver the annual Radford Lecture. She has recently been awarded the title of Adjunct Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Sydney.
