Air conditioning in classrooms

That Federation seek clarification on what the NSW Government means by average temperatures in relation to the installation of air conditioning in classrooms. Secondly, we seek clarification of the time when average temperatures are taken.

Is it the temperature of the teaching/learning space or of the suburb?

The Federation should request the program/plan for the installation of air conditioners and publish this information to allow teachers to engage in local action around the issue.

All air conditioning must be supported by upgrading of the electrical systems into and throughout the schools.

All new buildings commissioned by the DET should be designed and built using the principles of passive solar heating, aspect insulations and natural ventilation, rather than the blanket use of air conditioning and/or extractor systems.
