Attend salaries case in the IRC

Federation encourages all members who can do so to attend the sitting days of the Industrial Relations Commission. A hearing day is usually from 10am to 4pm.

The IRC has three Federation award applications before it.

The Federation's claim for a 25 per cent increase in salaries and allowances is being heard as a new Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and TAFE and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award. Further hearing dates are November 17, 18, 19, 20, 24,25, 26, 27 and 28 (possibly) and December 16, 17 and 18. This case will be heard at the Commission, 50 Phillip Street, Sydney.

Evidence will be taken by the full bench of President Wright, Vice President Walton, Deputy President Grayson, Justice Boland and Commissioner Bishop.

The Federation lodged an award variation seeking pro rata full time salary and award conditions for TAFE part time casual teachers who teach eight hours or more a week. Evidence from both sides is almost complete. Final submissions will be heard later this year, before the full bench, but the hearing dates have not been set at this stage.

Federation's third case is for casual and temporary school teachers. All of the evidence has been heard.

The hearing dates listed were accurate as of printing. Members are advised to check the Law Notices in the Sydney Morning Herald on the day for confirmation. Or visit the Commission's website at http://www.lawlink.nsw.gov.au/ir.nsf/pages/index and follow the prompt to the daily court lists. Information about hearing dates is not available from the IRC by telephone.
