The DET presents its case in the Commission

In recent weeks, Department of Education and Training (DET) witnesses have taken the stand in the salaries case before the Industrial Relations Commission. This has given Federation counsel the opportunity to cross-examine DET witnesses.

Members should note that the purpose of Federation counsel's cross-examination was to contest the assertions of the DET witnesses and the various suggestions made in the Commission during cross-examination of Federation witnesses, for example, that teachers exercise less professional judgement and discretion as a result of the implementation of outcomes-based education. This has emerged as a central and critical issue in this case.

The following articles were written by Jennifer Leete, John Dixon, Ted Kenny and Peter de Graaff with the assistance of other Federation Officers.

All the support you need

Suspension policy to 'reduce workload'

Extensive change conceded

Outcomes instructions not clear

Site inspections in TAFE colleges
