Summary of Federation's claim and of the D-G's 'without prejudice' offer

Summary of Federation's claim

  • Payment from January 1, 2006
  • $75,000 (13 per cent) at the top of the scale plus CPI/general wage movements
  • $50,000 (eight per cent) at the bottom of the scale plus CPI/general wage movements
  • Settlement by negotiation, fully funded with no "trade offs"
  • Promotions positions not gaining increases through restructuring to receive percentage increases no less than the bottom of the scale claim (this claim approximates four per cent per annum although configured differently)
  • Three year award January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2008.

Summary of the Director-General's 'without prejudice' offer

  • First payment from January 1, 2006
  • 4.5 per cent from January 1, 2006, four per cent from January 1, 2007, and 4.5 per cent from January 1, 2008 for the top of the scale ($75,352)
  • Three per cent from January 1, 2006, three per cent from January 1, 2007, and three per cent from January 1, 2008 for the bottom of the scale ($50,000)
  • Maternity leave: 14 weeks paid
  • Paternity leave: one week paid
  • Access to long service leave pro-rata after seven years
  • Four per cent per annum for all allowances
  • Four per cent per annum for all promotions positions
  • Assistant principal to head teacher, deputy principal primary to deputy principal secondary on July 1, 2008
  • Settlement by negotiation, fully funded
  • Joint review of secondary school counsellor issues
  • Joint review of principal classifications
  • Minor changes to procedures for teachers causing concerning and TAFE professional development and averaging. No other changes.
