Preparing for 2007
More than 100 Federation members attended a training course on November 16-17 about campaigning against the Howard Government's industrial relations laws in the community.
Members were inspired by pre-dinner speakers (from left) lawyer Lisa Doust, mineworker Lorissa Stevens, factory worker Jin Woog Kim and Barry Hemsworth (not pictured).
Ms Stevens is waiting for a hearing date in the Federal Court. Lawyer Lisa Doust said the proceedings allege Mining and Earthmoving Service Pty Ltd and two of its managers engaged in duress in relation to the offering of an Australian Workplace Agreement to Ms Stevens.
Korean worker Jin Woog Kim told how he slept in the factory he worked in, had his hand injured and has been threatened with deportation.
CFMEU union delegate Barry Hemsworth is currently mounting a vigil outside his former employer, Botany Cranes and Forklift Services, at Banksmeadow.
