IR Sky Channel for all workers November 15

More than 10,000 people are expected to flock into Martin Place and Belmore Park in Sydney on November 15 to watch the national Sky Channel broadcast held as part of a community protest against the Howard Government's proposed changes to industrial relations laws.

Sky Channel meetings will also be held at more than 215 venues throughout the state. Unions NSW Deputy Assistant Secretary Chris Christodoulou said huge screens would be set up in Martin Place, between Pitt and Castlereagh Streets, and Belmore Park, between Eddy Avenue and Pitt Street.

The meetings will begin at 8.30am, with the broadcast originating from Federation Square in Melbourne at 9am. The broadcast is expected to be one hour long.

Mr Christodoulou said a protest march would follow the broadcast, probably ending up at Chifley Square.

He said at the end of the march there would be speeches.

Marches and rallies are planned for capital cities and some regional venues following the Sky Channel broadcast (see back page).

Federation is distributing postcards titled "I didn't vote for an attack on my rights at work" (see page 2). The postcards will be sent to workplaces so they can be signed and collected for bulk delivery to MPs and Senators.

The same postcards will be handed out at some Sky Channel venues.
