Annual School Reports

Annual School Reports in the State Industrial Relations Commission

In an act of contempt against its own Industrial Relations Commission, the State Government has announced changes to the Annual School Reports which breach a state industrial award.

"Using the Federal Government's quadrennial funding conditions as a shield, the State Government proposes changes to Annual School Reports which will inevitably lead to the formation of school "league" tables.

"Federation also opposes the listing of staff absences including for those who are sick, on maternity leave or on long service leave in Annual School Reports. There are 500 small schools in New South Wales where staff will easily be identified.

"The Industrial Relations Commission has conducted one hearing on this matter on 20 June 2005. The next Report Back is 8 July 2005.

"The State Government apparently means to ignore the Commission's findings," said President of the New South Wales Teachers Federation Maree O'Halloran.
