Member Update Campaign 2009 26 May 2009Win a trip for 2 to Paris* by participating in the campaign By John Dixon, Assistant General Secretary- Communications & Administration
In the next few days Members will receive either a letter or an email from the Federation asking them to update their workplace details . The email will ask the individual member to go online, check the details we currently have recorded and update them. The Federation will send an individualised email or letter to each member. This correspondence will give each member the necessary information to go online, log on to a secure area, check his or her current details, update any changes and answer the additional information the Federation needs to gather. Currently the NSW Department of Education and Training, and other employers, declines to provide the Federation with any details of where our members are teaching and whether they have transferred, or even retired. Considerable effort has occurred to modify the membership system, 'Stratum', and design a secure website to allow the Federation to contact every member and get them to update their details online which will automatically update the data onto the membership system. The 'Member Update' also allows the Federation to gather additional information on members for future salaries and working conditions campaigns e.g. date of birth, position classification, salary level, new scheme status, qualifications, etc. This will give the union much more accurate information in a fast and efficient manner. * The Member Update Campaign 2009 will run initially until the end of Term 2 and, to encourage members to go online, check and update their details, the Federation is offering members the chance to win a trip for two to Paris which will include economy airfares and 6 nights' accommodation. In addition, members will have the chance to win a weekly prize of an iPhone. More details of the prizes will be published closer to the campaign. For those members who don't have or can't access the internet, or have difficulty completing the online form, the Federation has arranged for a dedicated help desk, with extended hours, to allow members to ring in and be provided with assistance.
