Special Education Forum

03 June 2009

Wednesday 10 June 2009 - 2:00 pm

The Public Schools Principals Forum will be launching the report Provision of Services for Special Needs / Disabled Students in NSW at the State Parliament Theatrette at 2.00 pm on Wednesday 10 June 2009.

Based on a statewide survey of principals, the report identifies problems with the provision of special education funding, class size formulae and school counsellor support.

Disappointingly, the findings from this report are not new. Problems in the provision of special education have existed for far too long in schools across NSW. The Federation has continuously raised these matters with successive Ministers and governments.

Members are urged to read the report available via the link:

http://www.nswtf.org.au/media/latest_2009/20090331_report.html

Federation Representatives are encouraged to write to their local politicians seeking a commitment to addressing the issues identified in the report and any particular issues that affect your school community in the provision of special education.

SYDNEY METROPOLITAN SCHOOLS

Sydney metropolitan schools are encouraged to make arrangements for teacher and parent representatives to attend the forum:
