Welcome to the start of the new year

The major campaign for 2001 and beyond is the promotion of public education. Our system must be properly resourced and funded by both Federal and State Governments.

The first major activity for the campaign is Public Education Day on Thursday March 15, 2001. On this day teachers in schools and TAFE Colleges, students, parents and the community will celebrate public education and highlight the dangers facing public education, particularly the Federal Government's funding policies. Information about the Public Education Day will be available in schools and TAFE Colleges next week.

A major TV and radio advertising campaign promoting public education teachers and students has been running in January, 2001. The concept is that public education builds the nation. Public education teachers are proud of the work they do and their students' achievements. This advertising campaign has been funded by teachers from the Public Education Fund. Further advertising will begin around March 15, 2001.

More information about the Public Education Campaign can be found on the Federation's website.

You are reminded that your support of Federation policy is in the best interest of public education.
