The Department of Education and Training withdrew from the Salaries Working Party on 2nd April and has not given any consideration to the Federations proposal on salaries.
TAFE TA council met at State Parliament House on Friday 15th May to lobby state MPs to resolve their salary dispute. The Department of Education and Training withdrew from the Salaries Working Party on 2nd April and has not given any consideration to the Federations proposal on salaries.
TAFE teachers contacted state MPs at the rally and Independent Peter Draper and Dawn Fardell organised media coverage of the event. John Kaye from the Greens met with teachers outside Parliament House and Opposition Leader Barry O'Farrell sent a letter to the gathered teachers which said: "With respect to the salary dispute we do not believe that TAFE teachers should have to trade away conditions in order to retain their real wage level." The government was noticeable in its absence.
