Putting Students First
The “Putting Students First Charter” was launched at a media conference on 19 June, 2012. The Charter addresses concerns of teachers about the impact of the NSW Governments, “Local Schools. Local Decisions” agenda and offers a solution to the conflict between the government and the teaching profession.

A leaflet for parents explaining the concerns of teachers has been prepared and sent to schools for distribution to school communities. The leaflet is available on the Federation website in English and a range of community languages.

TV and radio ads are being broadcast explaining the concerns over staffing and budget cuts resulting from the government’s “Local Schools. Local Decisions” agenda.

A Local Cuts website has been established to provide additional information about the issue. Newspaper and online advertising refers community members to the website.

A wide range of additional news stories, resources and other information is available on the Salaries, Staffing & Security campaign site.
