Trainee Teacher Scholarships
This year fourteen Trainee Teacher Scholarships are available from the NSW Teachers Federation with a value of $4000 each (two of these scholarships are funded by the Retired Teachers Association).
The NSW Teachers Federation wishes to assist as many aspiring public education teachers as possible. Therefore, previous scholarship recipients are not eligible to reapply.
The Trainee Teacher Scholarships are an example of Federation's ongoing support of public education. The Federation is also committed to building and supporting the teaching profession in public schools.
These scholarships are awarded to tertiary students:
Enrolled in a teacher education degree course at a tertiary institution, who are student members of the NSW Teachers Federation, and have completed year 12 (or the equivalent) at a public school or TAFE college in NSW.
The NSW Teachers Federation Trainee Teacher Scholarships Committee will award 14 scholarships (in total) to successful applicants from each of the following five categories:
- ALL trainee teachers
- Trainee teachers that identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people.
- Trainee teachers from a rural or remote area
- Trainee teachers in their first year of a teacher training course
- Trainee teachers from a Language Background Other than English.
Applicants may apply for more than one category if appropriate.
