Seminars

The Federation conducts two hour seminars for New Teachers and Casual and Temporary Teachers at various venues around New South Wales. These Seminars are often conducted in conjunction with local teacher associations.

The NSW Teachers Federartion is an endorsed provider of Institute Registered professional development for the maintenance of Professional Competence.

New Teachers' Seminar - Professional Competence: Maintaining accreditation, Classroom management and Networking

This two hour course intended for teachers in their first years of employment covers the requirements for attaining professional competence and maintaining accreditation at Professional Competence Level.

The course is divided into three segments, each addressing one of the NSWIT Standards, 5.2.5, 6.2.2 and 6.2.6.

Casual and Temporary Teachers' Seminar

This is a two hour seminar aimed at providing casual and temporary teachers with essential knowledge and understandings regarding

  • requirements for attaining and maintaining accreditation at professional competence level with the Institute of Teachers,
  • workplace responsibilities and entitlements as a casual and/or temporary teacher and
  • practical ideas and networking to support professional practice.

NSWIT Standard 6.2.2 is addressed in the first hour and 6.2.6 in the second hour of the seminar.
