Pay rises on way for teachers, nurses
Details of pay negotiations out in the past 48 hours show $300 million will be put aside for teachers' salary rises, and another $329 million for nurses.
The Education Ministry is negotiating the deal with teachers, along with a $750 upfront payment as part of its $300 million pay proposal.
Teachers will get a four per cent increase each year for the next three years.
If the deal is approved, a pay-parity scheme means the Government must also fund the same increase for primary teachers, costing another $450 million.
