Teachers Rally in Sofia for Higher Pay

100 per cent pay claim

Sofia. The rally organized by teachers on the Independence square in Sofia ended, a reporter of FOCUS News Agency informed.

The Vice-President of the Confederation of the Independent Trade Unions Plamen Dimitrov said that the Trade Unions had their own account of the funds and could show it to the President, to explain where the funds for the increase of salaries could come from.

The World Bank has sent an appeal not to increase the salaries of teachers, since it would cause a financial chaos.

Representatives of the three trade unions of the Bulgarian teachers and the leaders of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria and Confederation of Labour Podkrepa will meet with the Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov. During the meeting they will discuss the demands of the teachers for a 100-percent increase of their salaries, and also other problems related to education. This was announced by the leader of CL Podkrepa Konstantin
