Beginning Teacher Conferences

Please note that from Monday 20 July 2020, face to face training for Federation professional development (TUT) will recommence. This will be in line with the current social distancing practices. Please contact Trade Union Training at tut@nswtf.org.au should you require further information.

Beginning Teacher Conferences

The Federation hosts a number of beginning teacher conferences around the state for all new (beginning) teachers who are employed as full time, temporary or casual school teachers by the Department of Education, and who are members of the Union.

The conferences provide an excellent opportunity for participants to network with other new teachers, explore their conditions of work and gain an explanation of the requirements and procedures for gaining and maintaining accreditation. Other topics covered during the conference include current issues in education as well as enhancement of programming, planning and classroom management skills. Participants also gain an understanding of the support and member services offered by the Federation.

To attend, beginning teachers must be members of the Federation and located within a reasonable travelling distance of the conference. Federation covers the cost of the conference which includes all materials, meals, accommodation (if appropriate) and travel assistance.
