The New Educators Network (NEN) is a network of teachers in their first five years of teaching who are interested in understanding more about and becoming involved with their union - the NSW Teachers Federation.
NEN participants come into the union to undertake training to enhance their understanding of union processes and practical activities to enable them to become active unionists. Being an active unionist can simply mean reading the material distributed by your Fed Rep at your school. It may incorporate attending school meetings wherever possible or accessing the Federation website and browsing or surfing.
Finding out who the Fed Rep or Women's Contact person in your school is, or reading the Bulletin Board and announcements in your workplace actively keeps you informed. Attending your local association meetings or a Trade Union Trading course are other means of enhancing union activism.
