NSW Teachers and Related Employees Enterprise Agreement
The Australian Education Union NSW Teachers Federation and TAFE NSW commenced bargaining for a new TAFE Commission of NSW Teachers and Related Employees Enterprise Agreement late last year. Both parties have an interest in, and shared commitment to, robust and speedy enterprise bargaining.
Before bargaining commenced, Federation carried out a survey of all TAFE members covered by the agreement, to determine their priorities for the new EA. This survey overwhelmingly indicated teachers wanted to focus on gaining a 2.5% increase in annual salary with no loss of conditions.
Members further indicated the key issues should be an increase in permanency and additional time (and easier access) for professional development.
So far there have been ten formal meetings between Federation and TAFE NSW, with regular meetings continuing. Both parties have committed to agree on a proposed new enterprise agreement as soon as possible.
Federation Officers will continue to attend TAFE colleges to update members on bargaining matters. Federation urges all branches to hold regular meetings to continue the two-way dialogue necessary during this time. Further updates will be available here as bargaining progresses.
