Welcome to the TAFE Hotline. This message was posted on the 28th September and concerns Award matters, the TAFE Budget and Job Cuts Campaign, Seaforth TAFE and 'Collegiate educational structures'. The 4% pay rise and back pay to 3rd April 2000 and the 2% lump sum back pay from 1st July 1999 to 2 April 2000 should have been paid by now. Work is proceeding on drafting the 'new Award', which will come into effect from the beginning of next year. No changes to Award matters are to occur this year in TAFE, unless advised by Federation.

Urgent advice to all members The DET has recently sent a survey to all High Schools and Central Schools concerning the possible effects of a proposed new model of allocating Head Teacher and Deputy Principal positions to schools. The DET has taken this action arising from negotiations with the Teachers Federation about a proposed ratio based formula for Head Teacher establishment which would replace the current 81 period rule as well as HT positions which are currently allocated on the basis of whole school numbers.

Teachers' back-pay taxed at 48% rate The Federation has received a number of calls from members concerning the 2% backpayment payment which was negotiated as part of the salaries settlement. The Federation has sought confirmation that payment will be made to teachers on the 17 August 2000. Payment of salary increases The Federation has sought confirmation from the Minister for Education & Training that payment will be made to teachers on the 17 August 2000 of the one off cash payment and the 4% salary increase payable on and from 3-4 2000.
