Free seminars for casual and temporary teachers during January

Federation is hosting some training for casual and temporary teachers these school holidays.

Today, a two-hour Casual and Temporary Teacher Seminar provided teachers with essential knowledge and understanding about:

  • requirements for attaining and maintaining accreditation at proficient level with the NSW Education Standards Authority (formerly BOSTES)
  • workplace responsibilities and entitlements as a casual and/or temporary teacher
  • practical ideas and networking to support professional practice.

The Casual and Temporary Teacher Seminar will be repeated on Tuesday January 24 at 1-3pm, in the Federation's auditorium in Surry Hills.

These free seminars are for Federation members and contribute to QTC-registered professional development for teachers who are maintaining their accreditation.

A Casual and Temporary Teacher Performance and Development Framework seminar will be held on Wednesday January 18, from 1-3pm.

The seminar will outline the Department's Performance and Development Framework (P&DF) processes as related to casual teachers. It includes the training requirements of the P&DF as well as strategies to assist casual teachers in developing a P&DF plan.

You can register for the seminars by completing this form or online. If you require further information please contact Trade Union Training on (02) 9217 2100 or via email at
