Small Schools Newsletter October 2014
Reclassification of schools according to their RAM funding may have dramatic effects on small schools and their place within communities. The Small Schools Committee works within a changing industrial landscape. Your activism is the key to supporting local small schools and your community.
To this end, the Small Schools Committee has designed a campaign course for members in small schools. This course will be held in Dubbo on 12 November and at Federation House in Mary St, Surry Hills on 14 November.
Course participants should come away from either of these days feeling better equipped to campaign to ensure that their small school continues to provide the highest possible standards of satisfaction for students, parents and their school community.
To assist in your activism, the Small Schools Committee will prepare a member resource kit including:
- A set of corflute posters to highlight your small school in and around your community;
- Bumper stickers;
- A set of A2 posters to promote your school in your community;
- A sample media release;
- Sample letters to politicians, parents and community.
To apply to attend, phone the Trade Union Training section of Federation on 1300 654 369 or 9217 2196, or email firstname.lastname@example.org
