The Gender, Sexuality and Identity kit contains support material for teachers to assist in addressing homophobia and heterosexism in their educational settings. A hard copy has been sent to each workplace.
The kit provides definitions and explanations of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex (GLBTI) terms as well as inclusive resources for classroom use. It includes ideas and strategies for teachers to apply that can assist in making educational settings more inclusive for students, parent teachers and other community members of diverse genders and sexualities. It also provides advice on how to include anti-homophobia in a school’s bullying policy.
Federation also has a GLBTI Special Interest Group which is open to any interested member of the New South Wales Teachers' Federation. It is concerned with Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (GLBTI) issues and how these issues affect teachers and schools. To join the GLBTI Special Interest Group please email your request to firstname.lastname@example.org
