NSBTS Improvement Program

Procedures for improving the efficiency of DEC NSBTS officers remain in draft form.

The Federation and the Department have agreed on some matters which may make the application of an improvement program for a teacher in a temporary a non school based position unnecessary. A permanent DEC officer in a NSBTS position, who is informed that they may be considered in need of an improvement program, could apply to return to a school based position before the program commences or even during the program. The officer is also eligible to apply for any advertised school based position.

Federation members should note that 'Performance management' processes developed for public service staff in the DEC are NOT applicable to Federation members.

Members are advised to contact the Federation if their performance is being formally brought into question.
