Pam Widders

NSW Department of Education

My name is Pamela Widders, I was born and raised in Armidale, and am a very proud descendant of the Anaiwan Nation.

I am currently employed as Assistant Manager Aboriginal Employment and Career Initiatives, People and Careers at the NSW Department of Education and Communities I lead and manage programs for the recruitment, attraction and retention of Aboriginal staff at all levels of the organisation as well as the mentoring of staff within the team and those located in schools. In addition I have positioned the Department as a national leader in the attraction and recruitment of Aboriginal teachers and staff in schools including successful funding to deliver targeted initiatives.

My experience extends to the regional context as I was appointed as SEO1 Aboriginal Education Consultant in Sydney Region where I led the team of Aboriginal Community Liaison Officers as well as policy and curriculum matters across the region itself.

Prior to these two critical roles I was a qualified teacher employed at Sydney Secondary College, Balmain and at Alexandria Park Community School. As a Careers Advisor and HSIE teacher, in these two roles I led and implemented innovative whole school programs which aligned to the Quality Teaching Framework.

As an experienced educator with almost 30 year experience my leadership and management experience will be further developed in my current and future roles especially as I am relied upon by senior executive of the Department, principals and aspiring leaders across the NSW Public School system.
