The “Small Schools: Challenges and Achievements” workshop at the Principals’ Conference asked principals to look at the four significant issues affecting members in small schools and provided an opportunity for new principals to work with more experienced colleagues and discuss ways to approach common challenges.
Your memorabilia for Centenary
Does your school have historical material from celebrations such as its centenary, sesquicentenary? Your contribution to Federation's Centenary would be very much appreciated.
Review to enhance small schools’ entitlements
Protecting and enhancing school staffing entitlements is a priority campaign for Federation in the lead-up to the next state election, with the Small Schools Restricted Committee appraising the release available to small schools.
The principal problem with classification
Federation maintains its opposition to a principal classification structure based on a school’s budget and advocates that complex needs are best resolved through the provision of additional resources, such as additional staffing. If you have a specific example of how the principal classification is affecting your school please contact the Small Schools Committee.
Check the allowances available
Many teachers in small schools may be entitled to allowances. You can determine whether your school attracts any of these allowances by accessing the teachNSW Benefits Calculator.
