The TAFE Part time casual SIG meets on the Fridays of TAFETA council at 4pm (the Friday preceding Federation Council).
On Friday 18 November 2012, ACTU President, Ged Kearney, spoke to TAFETA Council about the growing crisis of insecure work in Australia and the ACTU’s Secure Jobs, Better Future campaign.
NSW TAFE has one of the largest casualised staff in the world with over 70% of delivery undertaken by teachers employed on a casual basis. Many of these teachers have been working for TAFE for many years some for over ten years, yet they still do not have the security of permanent work.
Also in this video, TAFE Part Time Casual teachers, Penny Lewis, Terri Quinlan, Christian Hampson and Christine Allsopp share their personal stories to illustrate the impact insecure employment has on their lives, their families’ lives and the community.
