Seminar A – Gaining and maintaining professional competence with the NSW Institute of Teachers for new teachers and school executive

This two hour course intended for teachers in their first years of employment or school executive and teacher mentors who assist new teachers.

The course looks at the requirements for attaining and maintaining accreditation at Proficient Level with BOSTES. 

The participants will be divided into two groups those who are assisting new teachers, and the new teachers.

The course is delivered face to face and includes practical activities where teachers, in discussions with colleagues match teaching tasks, processes and professional work with the Australian Professional Teaching Standards at Proficient Level.

The school executive and teacher mentors will work through the processes and share ideas, used in supporting new scheme teachers. Then we will go through the actual processes of helping a teacher to reach Proficient level with BOSTES, and then how to assist teacher the teacher in then maintenance of their accreditation.

The seminar addresses Australian Professional Teaching Standards at Proficient Level: 6.2.2, 7.2.2, 7.4.2

Seminar B – supporting new scheme teachers when seeking and maintaining professional competence with the NSW Institute of Teachers for School Executive

This two hour course is for supervisors and mentors who are supporting new scheme teachers in their first years of employment and covers the requirements for attaining and maintaining accreditation at Proficient Level with BOSTES. 

The course is delivered face to face and includes practical activities where executive teachers in discussions with colleagues develop a rigorous and consistent approach in supporting new scheme teachers with both the National & State NSW Institute of Teaching Standards.

The seminar addresses Australian Professional Teaching Standards at Proficient level: 6.2.2, 7.2.2, 7.4.2
