New Teacher Seminars

The Federation conducts two hour seminars for new teachers at various venues around New South Wales. These seminars are usually conducted in conjunction with local teacher associations, often at their request.

The NSW Teachers Federation is endorsed to provide NESA Registered Professional Development for teachers accredited at Proficient Teacher.

New Teacher Seminar 1 - Working as a teacher and accreditation and maintenance at Proficient Level with NESA

This is a two hour seminar aimed at providing new teachers with essential knowledge and understanding regarding:

  • requirements for attaining and maintaining accreditation at Proficient Level with NESA,
  • workplace responsibilities and entitlements as a teacher, and
  • practical ideas and networking to support professional practice.
    Completing a Working as a teacher and accreditation and maintenance at Proficient Level with NESA will contribute 2 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing 6.1.2, 7.2.2 and 7.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

New Teacher Seminar 2 - Proficient Level and maintenance accreditation, planning and programming workshops for primary & secondary teachers

This two hour seminar intended for teachers in their first few years of employment covers the requirements for attaining and maintaining accreditation at Proficient Level with NESA.

The seminar also includes Planning and Programming workshops for secondary and primary teachers.

The seminar is delivered in face to face mode and includes two sessions of one hour each covering accreditation and programming/planning respectively.

    Completing a New Teacher Seminar – Proficient Level and maintenance accreditation, planning and programming workshops for primary & secondary teachers will contribute 2 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing 2.2.2, 6.1.2, 6.3.2, 7.2.2 and 7.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.    

New Teacher Seminar 3 – Gaining and maintaining teacher accreditation

This two hour seminar covers the process of gaining and maintaining teacher accreditation in NSW at proficient level.

Participants will develop their knowledge and understanding of NESA and DoE requirements relating to the teacher accreditation process, and apply this to their current context of employment. Participants will develop their understanding of their legislative requirements of the teacher accreditation process, and their obligations in relation to accreditation at proficient level..

    Completing a Gaining & Maintaining teacher accreditation seminar will contribute 2 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing 6.2.2 and 7.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

New Teacher Seminar 4 - Collecting and annotating work samples for accreditation at Proficient

This seminar is intended for teachers who will be accredited at Proficient with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). Participants will gain ideas as to how teachers can demonstrate the standard descriptors, annotate their work samples and organise their evidence.

The seminar builds upon the content covered in the Gaining Proficient Teachers Accreditation seminar and sessions.

    Completing a Collecting and annotating work samples for accreditation at Proficient seminar will contribute 2 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing 6.2.2 and 7.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
