Applications are now open for the Rural Education Conference to be held at Federation House, Surry Hills. After having had to be postponed twice, the Federation’s Rural Education Conference will be going ahead on 17 September 2022 from 8.30am - 4.30pm. The conference will provide an opportunity for members who teach in regional and remote locations to:
- connect with other teachers with similar experiences in rural and isolated schools
- update knowledge on policies impacting non-metropolitan schools and teachers
- contribute to the Federation’s work in supporting the needs of rural teachers and school communities, including to close the achievement gap between city and country students
- develop capacity to raise and resolve issues in a local context.
Rural and remote teachers who are interested in becoming more actively involved in the Federation are encouraged to talk with their local association about attendance.
The Federation will fund one teacher from each country association to attend the conference. Associations can fund additional delegates, by decision of an association meeting, where funds are available. Applicants seeking to access a funded position must have their application endorsed by their Association President or Secretary.
