The Distance Education Restricted Committee (DERC) is a Federation committee elected for a two-year period; its members represent the full range of distance education delivery providers, including autonomous Distance Education Centres (DECs), city and country, integrated country DECs, a specialised DEC and a primary DE school.
This committee is a valuable forum to inform Federation on issues such as how these schools operate, policy development and implementation, and the teaching conditions affecting members.
During the past 10 years the Committee has been influential in ensuring that the working conditions for DE teachers and the learning conditions of DE students remains a genuine focus for both the Federation and the Department of Education.
